Letter from Mary Jane to Nellie

This is a letter from Mary Jane (Ramsell) Williams to her daughter Nellie. Mary Jane evidently wrote this between 1933 when her brother Charles died, and 1938 when she died. I have transcribed it and added punctuation in most cases. Notice that she misspelled the name "Benjamin" both when referring to Moses' Father and for the middle name of her brother William B.

Nellie, I think I sent you a copy of our own family sometime ago. Now this is all I know about my father's family. His Mother's name was Eunice Easten or Eastman. I am not sure which. His Father was an English sea captain. He might have been a pirate, but I don't think he was. My great grand father Ramsell was Scotch and Irish and a veteran of the Revolutionary War the only title that I ever heard of in our family. My grand father Bengaman Ramsell was called the Honest Miller. He had a grist mill on his farm. I am not ashamed of any of them and if there are any more questions you want to ask, I will be glad to answer them the best I can.

Lovingly,
Mother
